Kevin Scott — About the Artist

Kevin Scott, originally from the Pacific Northwest, has called Salt Lake City home since 1983. He has had a career as a musician and entertainer, plying his trade on piano (and singing), accordion, and Caribbean Steel Drums. He is both an in-demand solo musician and vocalist and also has two bands, The Cabana Band and Polka Doodle-Doo.

He always joked that he’d probably give up all the musical instruments in retirement (as he’d pretty much completed a bucket list of musical goals) and take up painting… but a lack of talent drawing a basic circle seemed to preclude that. After visiting a glass art gallery in Southern Utah, something struck his creative sensibilities and inexplicably he suddenly dove headfirst into visual arts, with the epiphany that drawing circles is not a prerequisite. Glass offered a whole new world of expression that entertaining local audiences did not, at least not in the same way.

Many of his art pieces reflect his love of freedom of expression and his musical background. He wakes up frequently at 3am with a new idea that won’t let him sleep until he gets out of bed and starts to work. Maybe someday that will subside, but for now, he’s manic.
